Our philosophy
WabiO (’Wah-Bee-Oh):
Abbrevation for Wabi Originals, a liquid transformation venture.
Noun: artisan, hand-crafted, meticulously brewed, cultured beverage from the
planet’s finest organic and sustainable ingredients.
‘That WabiO tasted like Master Ren himself brewed the Cliff tea from the stream
at which the tea bush sprang forth.’ ‘WabiO’s Cliffhanger Kombucha kept me
hanging on and thirsting for more.’
Verb: to take a small family estate-grown tea and transform it into a sum greater
than its individual parts.
‘When fermenting artisan, organic pu-erh tea, they WabiO a kombucha into a
stout-like cultured drink with a body and head like Venus herself.’
History: Wabi Originals was born out of a chance meeting between a real-food
pioneer and a tea expert in Christchurch, New Zealand. The year was late 2010.
Their hometown had been hit by a devastating earthquake and the stars were
aligned for a cosmic rebirth from the community’s ruins. Warren’s vast experience
with brewing kombucha coalesced with Jo’s in-depth knowledge of tea, resulting
in a combined 40 years of brewing sophistication. The duo went on to create a drink
that’s another step forward in kombucha’s long history. After many tea-drunken
sessions and much trial and error, WabiO’s founders emerged from the tea room,
ready to bring their range of exclusive and unrivalled kombuchas to the world.
Present: Wabi Originals’ headquaters are based in Christchurch, New Zealand.
WabiO was launched in 2012 with its first line of fermented beverages - kombucha
cultured teas.
