The Headless
Made from a organic traditional Japanese green tea - Genmaicha.
This drink gets its name from a gruesome tale of a Japanese servant
losing his head to the sword of his Samurai lord for accidentally spoiling
his master's tea with a few kernels of roasted rice.
We're using the rice, but opted for skipping the blood.
Taste: Light, slightly toasted and utterly drinkable.
Cliffhanger
Made from an organic oolong harvested from steep rock faces in China's Wuyi
National Reserve and brewed for the inner Sir Ed in you.
If this kombucha can't make you hear the wind stirring the leaves of these
perched bushes, you better schedule an appointment with an ear specialist.
Taste: Dry and roasted like a good cider - the ideal thirst-quencher.
Fu Cha
A mysterious story of astronaut dogs and secret agents was revealed to us in a seance when the spirit of a Russian astronaut dog made itself heard.
The dog spirit (which wasn't Laika, by the way) revealed that this is the drink that fuelled Russia's space race in the 1950s. Russian rumours had it that even 007 (the Roger Moore version, of course) would have drunk if he wasn't continually bribed by a prominent Martini producer.
Taste: It's a sophisticated, unique flavour that's impossible to describe. But is best enjoyed neither stirred, nor shaken. Ice is o.k. - if you must...
Highliner
A story of a long journey to self-discovery. Our hero has to endure great hardship and faces great dangers.
Fortunately, she received a vial with a magic potion for her quest that helps her focus and stay calm even under the most adverse circumstances.
Brewed from an organic oolong with a high content of calming GABA (gamma-aminobutric acid for scientific-minded folk), this is a perfect late-night pleasure.
Taste: Slightly fruity with a well-balanced zing - many customers regard this as our "Original" flavour.
Uncle Stoutnikov
A raw tale of savage meets innocence, of boy meets girl.
A herculean black bear sniffs out the tiny survivor of an avalanche lying atop a bale of ancient pressed tea leaves. For twenty years in the wilderness, Bear raised her as his own - nurturing her with beastly love and nourishing her with a warm dark liquor brewed from the salvaged tea leaves.
Although she did not grow to Bear's physical stature, her strength and wisdom rivaled that of the ursine uncle that parented her.
At full maturity she and Bear walked the Silk Road to join civilization, amicably parting ways at the Yunnan-Mongol juncture. It was fabled that she became a Yunnanese warrior princess mothering her armies to victory with a fermented cocktail of pu-erh tea.
Meanwhile, Bear ambled as far north as Mongolia joining a traveling side show, the early predecessor of the Red Circus, dancing and juggling to the cheers of millions. Bear's nightly payment? An overflowing frothy mug of the the dark chocolatey tea.
We dedicate this rich, wholesome legendary kombucha to the Dancing Bear, to our Uncle Stoutnikov.
Brewed with an organic ripe pu-erh to bring some grounding earthiness (and some dark humour) into our range.
Taste: Dark, rich and with the head of a freshly poured stout. Rather earthy and definitely more warming than chilling.
The Wizard
The tea leaves haven't fully settled at the bottom of the cup, so we'll have to wait a little longer until we can read them. If you are patient, they're bound to reveal the essence of the Wizard's secret.
Brewed with an organic floral oolong from the birthplace of oolong tea processing in Fujian Province, China.
Taste: Complex like a good Wizard's tale, the floral layers of this kombucha will invite the morning dew to settle on your cheeks.
